Work top to bottom, dry to wet, and back to front. 1) Declutter and pick up first. 2) Spray bathroom and kitchen cleaners so they can dwell. 3) Dust high areas like ceiling fans, light fixtures, vents and tops of shelves. 4) Dust and wipe furniture and surfaces, then glass and mirrors. 5) Scrub and finish kitchens and bathrooms. 6) Clean floors last (vacuum, then mop), working from the far side of each room toward the door so you never walk over clean floors.

A standard cleaning of an average 2,000 sq ft home usually takes 2-4 hours for one cleaner, or about 1.5-2 hours for a team of two. Deep cleans and move-in/move-out cleans take noticeably longer, often one and a half to two times as long, because they cover baseboards, inside appliances and cabinets, and built-up grime.
